A Different Class of Glass

Apologies for the shocking photograph - I may have been a little unsteady. Any how -there's been a lot of talk about the waining, or not, of the class system in these Islands. We had Prescott being very eloquent on the subject, R4's Today Programme coming in for some stick, and I heard yesterday that the shadow cabinet now has the highest number of Old Etonians on show in the history of the Tory party. Marvelous. I just thought this attempt to cross class boundaries by the Miller Corporation, calling their watery produce The Champagne of Bottle Beer was a good example of a failed attempt to dilute the extremes that this world has to offer. Personally I need the contrast offered by the seasons, the difference between The Avett Brothers and Beethoven, my caviar served chilled and my truffle omelet piping hot - please let's not make the mistake of blending the extremes out of our experiences. Delighted to report that all's well in Ambridge - Nigel's surprise that Alice's relationship with Christopher Carter is going strong - " thought she'd be aiming for brains and tweed etc..." - "Oh no" pips up Shula (Hebden-Lloyd) " seems like rough and windswept is her thing." MORE ICE !

I want to know what spectacular end the new pig man (Gary is it?) is going to experience. Run over by Brian's rapidly-reversing Range Rover I hope.

As a Marketer (Failed), I checked out Miller's ad campaign....it's a bit odd! In Milwaukee (and many other places) they are feeling the pinch from on-site breweries such as Rock Bottom who do brew some extraordinarily good stuff....so my diary tells me, anyway! Does Ambridge have a micro-brewery these days? It should have, if it's keeping up with real life...

Peter - re Gary, a non-custodial ( say 200 hrs comunity service) for allowing himself to be interfered with by livestock, followed, obviously, by the sack.

Right. You've started a quiz AFA. What session beer do they serve in the Bull? And in The Rovers Return, The Queen Vic and The Woolpack?

All places of which I have absolutely NO knowledge! Except for The Woolpack, when it was the real life pub, The Falcon at Arncliffe. When I first went some centuries ago, an enquiry as to what beer was being served would likely be met with a blank stare, and the response: "What beer? It's ale, lad, nobutt ALE!"

Oh God The Falcon at Arncliffe. We all tipped up there once for a weekend, and watched the fire go out in the sitting room. So I attempted to relight it and the landlady came in and said "What exactly do you think you're doing?" in the same voice she'd have used if I'd been caught with my trousers round my ankles on top of her daughter.

Yes! That's The Falcon alright! Mind you, they don't do BOGOFs there....it's either Fire OR Daughter...

Reading Diplo's remarkable blog is like reading a book very, very slowly. And then finding three pages stuck together. MORE DIPLO!

However, the word verification I have to put in tonight is very nearly the name of Diplo's nearest wine merchant. SPOOKY!

Diplo, you're clearly on a roll - excellent stuff. What on earth was that buffoon Tom thinking of taking on a pigman recommended by Glasgow's leading HR consultant, Jazzer? More 'Matt Crawfords' please and 'Lillians', the 'aunt' of which dreams are made...sorry, getting a bit carried away there.

Bring back Walter Gabriel I say. Or his son Nelson for that matter.
