Dicing Jags

Look like a pair of '58 Listers to me. These were in the Triang Scalextric catalogue up until '63 so they've got to be 45 years old. With a bit of fettling we had them both running this year with the attendant smell of burnt dust and lube oil. I have got some vintage "clip" track somewhere but haven't seen it for 20 years. Most recent good Jag driving I've witnessed would have to be Frank Sytner at the wheel of Mr Bamford's car, fantastic finely balanced drifting with that beautiful blue smoke wafting around the inside rear tyre.

I had a 323i from Sytners and put a piston through the bonnet at 130mph in that chalk-faced gap through the Chilterns on the M40.
But anyway, why have Diplo's drivers got green chamber pots on their 'eads?

I photographed the entrance gate to Frank's private house in North Leicestershiire a couple of years ago. He was at work and his charming wife told me the code for the gates and led me through the house, across the garden and into his garage. There, all with the keys in, were; Ford GT40 in Gulf colours, 1973 Porche 911 Carrera, Porche 356 Cabrio and Jaguar C Type racer. I'd have been across the channel by the time he rumbled it!

Forgot to say. Nice shot Diplo. Car boot sales a great source of Scalextric stuff. I have a roof full of it. Irresistable.

Does anyone know what I've done with my Hornby 00 train set? Last seen running around the office in my late Northamptonshire domicile.

Diplomat: what a shot. They do look a lot like Listers to me too. Ooh! Carpet fluff round the back axle, pick-up braids worn to nothing in an hour or so, the dog walking across the track wnd knocking your car off mid-dice, woolly jumpers for goal posts..

Peter: your train set's in a nice wooden trunk somewhere, possibly in the boot of the missing Austin 12. It's bound to turn up sooner or later, don't worry.
